- ·a smoke source (a candle and dried rosemary in a fire-safe dish work well if you don't keep bundles)
- ·a fire-safe dish
- ·a window you can open

- Iopen a window first, in the room you're starting in.
- IIlight the rosemary from the candle flame until it smolders (blow out any open flame, keep only smoke).
- IIIcarry the dish through every room, moving clockwise from the front door.
- IVpay extra attention to closets, corners, and door frames — the places energy pools.
- Vspeak the incantation as you move.
- VIfinish at the front door, letting the last of the smoke go out through it.
